FACC 36th Gala- Sulyap sa noli

Filipino-American Community of the Carolinas–36th Annual Gala Brings Noli Me Tangere to Life Through

Event Details

  • Date: October 25, 2025
  • Time: 5:00 – 10:00 PM
  • Location: Le Meridien, 555 S. McDowell St., Charlotte, NC 28204

Theme and Concept

The gala’s central theme, “Karangalan at Katotohanan” (Honor and Truth), embodies Rizal’s call for dignity and justice. Guests will encounter “Sulyap sa Noli” — a glimpse into the Philippines of the 1880s, blending period elegance with modern social commentary.

A Story Reawakened

Written in 1887, Noli Me Tangere (“Touch Me Not”) exposed the injustices of Spanish colonial rule and inspired a national awakening in the Philippines. The novel follows Crisostomo Ibarra, whose return from Europe reveals deep-seated oppression in his homeland — a story of love, truth, and resistance that continues to resonate with Filipinos worldwide. More than a love story, the novel sparked a national awakening and remains a symbol of truth, resistance, and Filipino identity.
